Breakout: Cartographies of Rest

For two years starting October 2014, The Hub at Wellcome Collection will be conducting a major investigation into emerging cultures of rest, activity, busyness, arousal, and vigilance. A central component of the Hub is Cartographies of Rest, which uses techniques of self-tracking developed within the Quantified Self to allow us to form a synoptic picture of where we are, what we’re doing, and how we’re feeling at different points in our activity rhythm, along with how those rhythms are themselves changing.

Input and pushback from the Quantified Self community is essential to the success of Cartographies of Rest. We’re looking forward to building creative partnerships at QSEU14 and beyond and to using this project as a starting point for developing a platform for a new kind of distributed, participant-centered science of human activity.
