Brain fog : could the culprits be the gut bacteria

@ “Diet , medicines and supplements are personal . What worked for me might not work for other “ @

I have been suffering from brain fog . Recently it got worse after a viral fever . I have been trying to manage it with medications and supplements . One idea came suddenly what if gut bateria got something to do with it .I researched a bit about pre biotics with the help of Google and ChatGPT and found I haven’t been taking any food with mannitol and sorbitol (polyols) for a long time . In winter I ate cauliflowers but in summer we don’t cauliflowers here . So I dig into research and found dried prunes and rock melon has these . I brought dried prunes and it helped but real difference was with rock melon . It contains mannitol that feeds a wide range of lactoballilus rhamnosus strains . I found instant calm and clear brain after eating rock melon . Almost like l theanine . My mom who doesn’t know the sciance also felt calm and fall asleep . We always eat the same foods as we live in the same house.

Thank You

virus and brain fog for me suggest ME/CFS. The UK charity has recently published research (conducted by Edinburgh University) into the cause of ME/CFS with the conclusion that it a primary genetic component. Research paper is here.

Thank you

Interesting experience! The gut-brain connection is really fascinating. It’s great to hear about the effect of rockmelon and the idea that mannitol and sorbitol feed lactobacillus strains is quite insightful. Thanks for sharing I will definitely do some research on this too.
