So I was wondering why society’s such as iHiQs and Mensa exist to recognize individuals with high IQs, but there aren’t any for other areas of high performing individuals. For example no high functioning fitness society’s exist only organizations… is there a way to create a standardized test for a fitness quotient similar to iq tests?
Thinking about the difference between high IQ and high fitness, genetics comes to mind. One of the best predictors of death over the next 10 years is VO2 max, a measure of cardiovascular fitness. It is highly trainable, whereas IQ is trainable to very little degree. Another difference is that IQ has only one dimension, despite the recent talk of emotional intelligence, whereas other personality attributes are multidimensional and complex. There are five major traits like extraversion, and each has aspects. It is similar with fitness. You can be strong, you can be able to use lots of O2 to enable movement, you can have stability, flexibility and you can be enduring. These are all legitimate aspects of fitness, so there is no composite like there is no single number for personality traits.
