I’m working on a project that might be relevant to this community and would love feedback.
Like many of you, I’ve been trying to understand my sleep more deeply. But even with wearables and sleep scores, it’s still tough to pinpoint what actually improves sleep quality. My goal is to build a product that allows you to test changes to your sleep environment (and other factors that impact sleep quality) and measure effectiveness. I’d also like to build a community of sleep optimizers.
For now, I built a prototype of an AI sleep coach that:
-Starts with a short quiz (2–3 mins)
-Gathers details about your environment (light, noise, timing, etc.)
-Gives personalized recommendations based on known sleep research
This is a very early prototype, but I’m hoping to turn this into a full platform with:
-Sleep tracking integration
-Progress monitoring
-Advanced AI coaching
-A mobile app
Just some quick feedback in case this topic is found by others who want to use the forum for input into their application ideas. I think building surveys as a wrapper for ChatGPT is already a dead end. There isn’t enough knowledge added between us and the ChatGPT language model to make it worth engaging in a web form in order to talk to the model. We can simply talk to the model directly. I saw presentations over a year ago from a whole group of startups who thought they were going to solve quantified self problems using AI wrappers. It didn’t work then, and I think it’s unlikely to work in the future. (There is a pretty big need for mediating technologies but that’s a larger conversation.) From your wrapper:
“Yes, this is an interface powered by OpenAI’s technology, designed to simulate conversation and provide information or assistance across a wide range of topics, including sleep coaching advice like the guidance provided in my previous messages. How can I further assist you today?”
