QS Guide to Sleep Tracking

For a long time we’ve wanted to publish a short guide to tracking sleep from a QS perspective. That is, not just what apps and devices are available, but how they can be used to support learning and self-discovery using data. It’s one of those things we keep putting off. Here are my questions for you regulars:

  1. Is this useful enough to keep on our agenda - a worthy way to spend our time?

  2. Would any of you like to work on it with us?

Happy to help. It is interesting data, though it’s not always easy to parse. E.g., I’m thinking that my sleeping HR drops if I eat less (metabolism slowing?).

There are plenty of resources with advice on how to improve sleep (see e.g. http://biohackingbook.com/complimentary-sleep-chapter/), but none that are focused on how to do your own sleep-related experiments, so you can figure out what actually works for you–and do a QS talk :slight_smile:

I’ve been following up on several threads suggested by this conversation and I agree with Eric that there isn’t really anything out there that helps people get started with simple sleep experiments, with much of what turns up on Web searches being basically click-bait gadget stuff. I was thinking more of something QS like that offered five or six suggested methods, with perhaps an example of the data you can access using each system, and - this would be great if we can do it - links to QS talks that used this method or something similar.
